The upside is that when I travel or am in the field, I don't need to bring a card reader. With the USB-C cable and ViewNX-i, I need to transfer the images into a folder on the laptop and then import into the processing software from that folder. The downside is with the card reader, I can import directly into my photo processing software. In addition to the card reader, you can transfer photos from the camera to the MacBook Pro with a USB-C cable and Nikon's ViewNX-i software that comes with the camera.
